Jacobsen Women reading the personals for the first time often ask "What exactly do men MEAN by attractive?" And they ask it in a tone of distress, as though this is an important test question and they think they may have the wrong answer. Men also have a common question. They want to know, "What do women mean by financially secure?" There is no way to guarantee you what the person means; there are too many variables. But we can tell you from years of experience what the average person means in using those terms. When some women say they want a man who is financially secure, they do mean what men are afraid they mean - someone wealthy. But in fact that's not what most women mean. One woman summed it up for the majority when she said, "He has enough money that he doesn't need mine." Which generally translates into: you are the sort of person who pays his bills on time and is not under financial duress. Attractive is a harder one to define, since beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. But in fact men generally are not requiring you to be spectacularly beautiful. (Some are, of course, in about the same ratio as the number of women hunting spectacular wealth, it would seem.) Instead they find "attractive" the same things women find attractive: good grooming, appropriate dress, reasonable makeup (if any), a pleasant demeanor, good carriage, a healthy weight-to-height ratio. And that kind of attractive depends not on how finely etched your cheek bones may be, but on how you take care of what you have to begin with. Beyond that, it comes down to chemistry. And whether you remind them of mom - or their ex. ************************ Singles Site of the Week - Feeling left out now that all the kids are going back to school?
