"I will lose 50 pounds in 4 weeks" isn't realistic. Ten pounds is realistic. Get that done, and you can go on to the next ten pounds. Don't set yourself up to fail. 2. Set a realistic time table. Some researchers say it takes 200 repetitions to form a new habit. So logically it will take you more than a month of flossing to really get in the habit. Missing a day now and then in between doesn't really hurt; just keep working toward the 200. 3. Make manageable resolutions. Plan specifically. "I will be nicer to people" is hard to measure. "I will say something pleasant to the receptionist each morning" you can do. 4. Keep track. On your calendar at the end of each day, mark down what you did. ("Went to aerobics." "Skipped dessert at lunch.") Make a note for every day for the period you've planned. So if you resolved to get some exercise every day for 30 days, write something every day for 30 days. Sure, you'll have missed some days, but being able to say you succeeded for 15 days out of 30 can encourage you to go on and do even better in the NEXT 30 days. ------------------------------------------------- Fun web site! www.2h.com Feel like it's time for some serious reflection on yourself as you plan for the new year? Ok, this isn't the site, because these tests are not "professional" but for fun. Still, the personality, IQ and entrepreneurial tests on www.2h.com can be one way to start thinking about what you want to think about in 2002. ----------------------------------------------------- SHARE WITH A FRIEND-- PLEASE FORWARD THIS ISSUE ! ---------------------------------------------- If you haven't already done so, please forward this issue to your single friends and associates.
