ARIZONA: A GREAT PLACE FOR SINGLES

azstate.jpg (2866 bytes)

Arizona, bordering California and Mexico, became the 48th state on Valentine's Day, 1912. Its 4.1 million residents are scattered through 113,909 square miles of wildly diverse geography, from the Grand Canyon and wooded mountains in the north, to the Sonoran desert in the south. Arizona's climate is just as varied as its geography. Phoenix (1 million population) averages 89 days of 100F+ temperature per year, but the mild winters make up for that. Meanwhile, Flagstaff (51,000 population), at 7000 feet altitude, has weather similar to Nebraska. Dust storms in the desert are unusual sights to most people but are a normal occurrence in the desert. Special consideration needs to be taken living in the desert for such things as heat exhaustion, flash floods, and lightning.
